Located 23km from the center of Bonito-MS, Abismo Anhumas is an impressive place. Looking from above, you cannot imagine that a small crack in the floor opens up space to the immensity of the cave. After descending using an electric rappel, you take a boat ride across an immense lake with crystal clear water.
Another destination on our wonderful photo tour is Buraco das Araras in Jardins. Buraco das Araras is a huge sandstone crater, a geological formation created by the collapse of boulders. It is approximately 500 m in circumference and 100 m deep, located in the middle of the savannah in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil.
This is where the great adventure happens. The Abismo Anhumas Expedition is dedicated to nature lovers, whether photographers or not.

ITINERARY
1st day 05/12/2024 Thursday / Bonito (J)
Arrival of participants at Bonito airport where even the 15:00 our transfer will leave for the hotel with an estimated time of 30 minutes. minutes. Arriving at the hotel, everyone must check-in. We will make a quick stop at the anhumas abyss headquarters to try on the diving suit. Free time until dinner. At 7:30 pm we will meet at the hotel reception and head for a delicious dinner and briefing on the photographic expedition.
2nd day 06/12/2024 Friday / Abismo Anhumas ( W )
After our delicious breakfast we headed to the expected Abismo Anhumas. Upon arriving at the reception, the team will give some instructions and equip the participants to start the tour. The descent and ascent will be carried out via winch, two people at a time. The Abyss is a cave rich in geological formations amidst abundant crystal clear waters, which provides adrenaline and fascination to its visitors. It is 72 meters from the cave entrance to the floating platform built on the lake with crystal clear waters, with a depth of 80 meters and the size of a football field. After the descent, the group takes a 30-minute inflatable boat ride inside the cave, where they can observe the geological formation and various speleothems, such as cones, stalactites and stalagmites. After that, a stop at the dry part where, using tripods, we will prepare ourselves for the show that will start. A magnificent ray of sunlight entered through the opening of the abyss directly. the crystal clear waters of the lake full of cones. It is a breathtaking experience. Then the boat returns to the platform and the participants equip themselves to begin floating. The water temperature averages 18o C. We close activities on the first day of Abismo Anhumas and after the entire return procedure we will continue for lunch in Bonito. After lunch, our destination will be Buraco das Araras in Jardins. The tour begins with a contemplative trail that takes place around an immense open crater. in the cerrado, with approximately 500 meters in circumference and 100 meters in depth, being the largest sinkhole in South America. The tour takes place on a 970 meter contemplation trail, with two viewpoints for contemplation, where visitors can observe the beauty of the place, which echoes the sound of almost a hundred scarlet macaws, among other species of birds that live there. End of the day's activities and return for a well-deserved rest. Everyone released for dinner.
3rd day 07/12/2024 Saturday / Abismo Anhumas (C)
On our third day of dispatch, after our delicious breakfast, We continue again to Abismo Anhumas, Upon arriving at the reception, the team will give some instructions and equip the participants to start the tour. The descent and ascent will be carried out via winch, two people at a time. After the descent, we will go out again to explore and photograph the interior of the cave in an inflatable boat lasting 30 minutes inside the cave, in which you can observe the geological formation and various speleothems, such as cones, stalactites and stalagmites. We will also create many compositions with a small boat floating in the crystal clear waters above the cones, as well as with divers submerged between the cones. This is a good time to use a camera sub or waterproof case. After that, a stop at the dry part where, using tripods, we will prepare ourselves for the show that will start. A magnificent ray of sunlight entered through the opening of the abyss directly. the crystal clear waters of the lake full of cones. It's a breathtaking experience. Then the boat returns to the platform and the participants equip themselves to begin floating. The water temperature averages 18o C. End of activities at Abismo Anhumas. Now we say goodbye to this wonderful place with a sense of longing.
We will continue to Bonito for lunch. After lunch our destination will be Rio do Peixe. River with crystal clear waters, full of fauna and of course many waterfalls to photograph.
We ended the day heading to our hotel for a well-deserved rest. Everyone released for dinner.
4th day 08/25/2024 Domingo / Pantanal (C)
After breakfast we will have a day of relaxation with a delicious swim in Mimoso. After enjoying this treat, we will head to the hotel for check out and our transfer to Bonito airport. End of the photographic expedition.

My name is Renato Machado
photographer and author of books Secret Landscapes of Southern Brazil and Canyons and Balloons, he has dedicated himself to photography for over 10 years.
During this time, he traveled through the Sahara Desert, Egypt, Norway, Easter Island, the Polynesian Archipelago, however It was in 2015, after a trip to Patagonia, that his passion became a serious matter in his life, and he specialized in landscape photography. Born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Renato has participated in international competitions such as the Sony World Photography Award and Zeiss Photography Award 2016, in addition to having photos published in National Geographic and Fotografe Melhor.
Cancellation Policy
To confirm the expedition, a minimum number of 6 participants will be required. If the contractor withdraws, on the trip, the deposit amount will not be refundable. Confirming the group, the signal value will be deducted from the input.
If the trip does not take place due to force majeure, a new date suggestion will be presented. If the contractor is not available, the amount paid to date will be fully refunded.
If the registrant withdraws, he/she must formalize in writing to email renato280969@gmail.com.
Other variations to the cancellation policy will be handled as follows:
- Up to 90 (ninety) days before the trip payment of down payment of 40% (forty percent);
- More than 45 (forty-five) days and less than 90 (ninety) days of the trip fine of 60% (sixty percent) of the contracted amount;
- Less than 45 (forty-five) days before the start of the trip will not provide the right to a refund of the amounts paid.
