A little about this wonderful destination.
The Peruaçu Caves National Park is a place where beautiful landscapes are framed by prehistoric rock art, in ancient archaeological sites of international importance and their colossal caves.
The Conservation Unit was created in 1999, and has an area of 56,400 hectares, which comprises the municipalities of Januária, Itacarambi and São João das Missões, in the northern region of Minas Gerais.
The Park was recently structured and has trails, viewpoints and walkways to protect archaeological sites

INTINERARY
06/16/2024– Sunday Montes Claros / Itacarambi
Arrival of participants in the city of Montes Claros/MG and transfer to the inn near Parque Cavernas do Peruaçu, where they will be accommodated during the days during the expedition. On the same day, during the evening a welcome dinner will be offered, a presentation of those involved and participants, as well as an explanation about the expedition.
Everyone must be at the airport by 12:00.
06/17/2024 - Monday André's Arch, Cascudos Cave
We will have a delicious and hearty breakfast at the Recanto das Pedras guesthouse and then head to our first adventure. Upon arriving at Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park, we will begin the trail in the morning, arriving at our first attraction, Mirante das Cinco Torres. After photographing the natural beauty, we will head towards the dark part of Arco do André, where we will take a break for hydration. We will continue our walk towards the entire world viewpoint, where we will see the entire Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park. Continuing our walk, we will follow the banks of the Peruaçu River to the Arco do André portal, where we will make a photo stop and have a hearty snack on site. Starting our walk back, we will follow the Arco do André cave to the Cascudos Cave, seeing the resurgence of the Peruaçu river with beautiful natural pools. Following, we will arrive at the last attraction, the Caverna dos Truncos, where we will take a break for photography and a brief snack. At the end, we will return to the Inn where dinner will be served.
06/18/2024 - Tuesday Janelão Cave
All day reserved to discover and photograph the incredible Gruta do Janelão. The Janelão Cave is the main attraction of the Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park. The grandeur of the cave is expressed in its huge sinkholes and halls, as well as in its gigantic speleothems. It is in the Janelão cave that the largest stalactite in the world, Perna da Bailarina, is located. After breakfast we will head to the Park. In our first moment we will walk to the entrance of Caverna do Janelão where we will stop to observe and photograph the natural beauty of the place, such as the incredible sunrise that illuminates the interior of the cave in the form of a beam of light. At noon, we will have a hearty snack inside the cave, we will return to photographing the different lighting possibilities and shapes until the end of the afternoon, where we will observe the sunset illuminating the Peruaçu River that flows through the cave. After the photographs are finished, we will return to the inn where dinner will be served.
06/19/2024 - Wednesday Matas Secas Park and São Francisco River
Dawn on the São Francisco River and Parque Matas Secas. We will leave the inn before dawn until we reach the banks of the São Francisco River. We will photograph the sunrise and shortly afterwards a delicious breakfast will be served on the banks of the river. We will continue to the Peruaçu Caves National Park to photograph the dark room of the Lapa Bonita and Índio Caves. We will return for lunch at the inn and then head to Matas Secas Park. Walk through the caatinga biome, stopping at natural viewpoints to record the sunset, at which time an afternoon coffee will be served to participants. That day we will extend until dusk for night photography of the incredible bargidas, as well as the possibility of recording wildlife along the entire route. Afterwards, we will return to the restaurant where dinner will be served and everyone will be taken to your guesthouse.
06/20/2024 - Thursday
After breakfast, check out at the hotel and transfer to Montes Claros airport with expected arrival in the early afternoon. End of expedition.
Return flights can be scheduled from 2:00 p.m.

My name is Renato Machado
photographer and author of books Secret Landscapes of Southern Brazil and Canyons and Balloons, he has dedicated himself to photography for over 10 years.
During this time, he traveled through the Sahara Desert, Egypt, Norway, Easter Island, the Polynesian Archipelago, however It was in 2015, after a trip to Patagonia, that his passion became a serious matter in his life, and he specialized in landscape photography. Born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Renato has participated in international competitions such as the Sony World Photography Award and Zeiss Photography Award 2016, in addition to having photos published in National Geographic and Fotografe Melhor.
Cancellation Policy
To confirm the expedition, a minimum number of 6 participants will be required. If the contractor withdraws, on the trip, the deposit amount will not be refundable. Confirming the group, the signal value will be deducted from the input.
If the trip does not take place due to force majeure, a new date suggestion will be presented. If the contractor is not available, the amount paid to date will be fully refunded.
If the registrant withdraws, he/she must formalize in writing to email renato280969@gmail.com.
Other variations to the cancellation policy will be handled as follows:
- Up to 90 (ninety) days before the trip payment of down payment of 40% (forty percent);
- More than 45 (forty-five) days and less than 90 (ninety) days of the trip fine of 60% (sixty percent) of the contracted amount;
- Less than 45 (forty-five) days before the start of the trip will not provide the right to a refund of the amounts paid.
