ITINERARY

1st day     06/14/2025  Saturday  -  Santiago / Easter Island

Flight from Santiago to Rapa Nui lasting 4 hours. Arrival on Easter Island  (the flight usually arrives around 1 pm), reception at the airport with delivery of a welcome necklace and transfer to the hotel.

Stop for lunch and a short rest.

Sunset at Ahu Tahai: departure from the hotel in the late afternoon towards Tahai, which is 10 minutes from the hotel. Short walk around the place that is a Rapa Nui archaeological site that was restored in 1974. This site consists of three platforms, Ko Te Riku, Tahai and Vai Ure. This is considered the best place on the island to photograph the sunset, due to the position of the Moai sculptures and the angle of the sun's passage.

Return to the hotel, dinner.

2nd day   06/15/2025  Sunday  -  Easter Island

We will leave before breakfast towards Ahu Tongariki for a sunrise activity, the transfer takes around 25 minutes. Ahu Tongariki is the largest sculpture platform on Easter Island. Its moai were toppled during the island's civil wars and in the 20th century the ahu was swept inland by a tsunami. It has since been restored and has fifteen moai, including an 86-ton moai that was the heaviest ever erected on the island. This place is very special because of its position in relation to the sunrise. After the photos we will take a short walk so that the guide can give historical explanations of the place.

Return to the hotel for lunch. Brief rest period.

Leave the hotel at 3pm to learn about and take photos of the tour that tells the story of the Birdman Legend, and then take a 15-minute transfer to the Rano Kau volcano. This is an extinct volcano 324 m high that forms the southwestern promontory of Easter Island. It was formed from basaltic lava flows in the Pleistocene, with its youngest rocks dating back to between 150,000 and 210,000 years ago. The place offers a beautiful setting for photographs. Stop for photos and historical explanations from the guide, then take a short walk around the site. Then we will go to Orongo, (which is just a few minutes away) and is a ceremonial village on the edge of the crater of the Rano Kau volcano. This is where the first rituals of the egg race and the worship of the birdman were held. Archaeologists usually divided the village into three complexes, which can be visited by the group. Return to the hotel around 7pm.

Return to the hotel for dinner.

Depending on weather conditions, nighttime astrophotography outing at a strategic location.

3rd day 06/16/2025 Monday - Easter Island

After a delicious breakfast, we will continue on the route called "Looking at the stars", departing at 9:00 am to visit three archaeological sites: Ahu Akivi, Puna Kau and Ana Te Pau. Then return to the hotel for lunch.

Afternoon free to stroll around the village of Hangaroa, which can be done on foot or by bike, or to enjoy the hotel.

In the late afternoon, departure to photograph the sunset at a strategic location. Then return to the hotel for dinner.

Depending on weather conditions, another departure for astrophotography, scheduled to depart at 8:00 pm. End of the day's activities and return to the hotel.

4th day     06/17/2025  Tuesday -  Easter Island

Before breakfast we will go out to photograph the sunrise at Anakena beach (35 minutes from the hotel), which is a white coral sand beach in Rapa Nui National Park. Anakena has two ahus; Ahu-Ature has a single moai and Ahu Nao-Nao has seven, two of which have deteriorated. After the photo session, we will visit other ahus in the surrounding area such as Te Pito Kura.

After the photos we will return to the hotel for a delicious lunch.

Departure at 3 pm (with a 30-minute transfer) to Rano Raraku, a volcanic crater formed from volcanic ash or tuff located in the lower part of Terevaka, in Rapa Nui National Park. This was the main quarry on the island for 500 years until the beginning of the 18th century, and where most of the famous moai were carved (it is not possible to take photos at sunset because the park closes before, but it is a spectacular place for photos).

5th day    06/18/2025 Wednesday - Easter Island

On the morning of our last day we will have a scheduled outing to photograph the sunrise in one of the participants' favorite places visited during the expedition. Return to the hotel for lunch and end of the photographic expedition.

Departure from the hotel around 1 pm to the airport.
